June 22 - July 28, 2019
Since 1968, the ECF Art Centers have created artistic opportunities for artists with developmental disabilities. At ECF’s four professional art studios located across Los Angeles County, artists are encouraged to express their personal and creative vision. ECF’s approach of mentorship, professional development in the arts and collaboration has been the catalyst for hundreds of artists to achieve their personal and professional goals.
Christina Tubbs has been working at the South LA ECF Art Center since 2009. The works in The Superwomen with Monkey Money Daydream Amazing display Tubbs’ explorations into ceramics and printmaking. Built by emphasizing distinct components of the human face like teeth, hair, and eyeballs as well as elements that convey personal style like hair braids and sunglasses, Tubbs develops her extraordinary disembodied sculptural objects and collagraphic prints through piecemeal approach.
